About the Book

The Anti-Privatisation Forum (APF), formed in July 2000, was a response of working people, students and the unemployed, to the neoliberal policies being implemented by the ruling African National Congress government in South Africa. This edition of the Documents of the Social Movements brings together select APF statements, resolutions and policies from 2000 to 2010 as a contribution to the debates on social movements and democracy in South Africa. The aim of this edition is to make the documents on the APF available to a broad layer of activists especially, and researchers. Although the APF does not exist anymore as an organisation, it represents an important experience in the struggle of working people, of social movements, to unite and oppose the forces of neoliberalism in post apartheid South Africa.
